We are in Northeast Argentina

Josh and I have seen so many great things I can´t even begin to put them into words. Plus I have not written on this blog for a few days........ The last great site that we saw was Iguazu Falls- both sides- The Argentine and the Brazilian side. Which side was better? That I am not so sure of because both sides were absolutely spectacular! I have never seen anything quite as beautiful as Iguazu Falls. I will post pictures soon for all to see! Right now Josh and I are in this slowmoving town called Posadas in Northeast Argentina north of Rosario....... We are taking a bus southward on to Buenos Aires and I cannot wait to get there! It is going to be the best city yet I think. Also, Argentina is much cheaper than Brazil which is good.......

So I just wrote the University of Pennsylvania

And I have all of the requirements for Public Health except I think I need to take a class in Epidemiology ( Is that how you spell?) or Biostats.....jnfwaeohfrerawer. And I think I need to volunteer in some area of Public Health in SA this year- but that is not so hard to do. I am hace falta one of these classes.....ujhafuiehrhaerheiaurhaeor. Hahaha. I won a grant to do HIV/AIDS Education in the Bronx- but I SHOULD HAVE worked on the Asthma stuff in the BX as well. Sooooo what should I do?????? I know that I can work with HIV positive kids in Ecua- but what else should I do????? Well I am reading Love in the Time of Cholera, but that does not count.

Anyways- I am now in a environmentally friendly town in Brazil and Josh and I are just chillaxin. Josh just slammed down two plates of Chinese food like a pig at a trough. 7 days till Argentina and I cannot wait for the Iguazu Falls!

Sao Paulo and bussing south onward to Argentina

So Josh and I have been in Sao Paulo for the past two days and we love it here. We have forgotten what it is like to live in a big modern city like NYC or Philadelphia. There is everything that you could possibly want and sooo different from Quito. You forget what life is like outside of a developing country until you go and visit more developed countries. Sao Paulo is bigger than NYC and very sophisticated. A stark contrast to my little Pueblo that I live in en Ecuador. For example, I asked a Brazilian about how many times a year she took her amoeba pill and she looked at me like I was crazy. Josh and I talk about amoebas everyday- for those of you who don't know there are amoebas in the food in Ecuador. I have to take a dose of amoeba pills twice a year to clean out my system. I even read about a new Kraft Macaroni that is being fed to African and South American children to combat amoebas. I thought to myself- Way to go Kraft! Ok well enough about amoebas.......

Anyways Sao Pau is a world class international city, and it has made me realize how poor Ecuador really is. I guess that I am just used to it. Coming from working in the Bronx to working in a developing nation I guess is enough to make someone humble. But I will tell you one thing I do miss Chulpichochos. The best beans ever- only found in Ecuador. And Josh and I have decided we are going to eat a cuy ( a guineau pig) when we get back to Ecuador. A cuy and papas will be a great date night. We are leaving Sao Pao tomorrow and bussing southward to Argentina, which I cannot wait for. Until then......

Esperando en el estacion de los buses en Sao Jao del Rei, Brazil

I am sitting in the bus station waiting for my bus to leave in three hours and just hanging out in Sao Jao del Rei, Brazil. We are having a great time here and I love Brazil. We just sat in a bar on a corner drinking and talking for many hours and now we are back at the bus station waiting. We have a 10 hour bus ride ahead of us to the city of Sao Paulo and I cannot wait to get there! We are going to love it I think............ We just went to a few more small towns in the state of Minerais Gerais and they were incredible. I will write more when I get to Sao Paulo!

El segundo vez en el Internet Cafe

So I am sitting here in the internet cafe for the second time today because Josh has left his battery charger in the town about 2.5 hours away. I am have no been sitting here alone for 4 hours- not in the internet cafe but in the town itself. This is when I have decided that traveling alone sucks- especially if you do not speak the language. This is the only country in South America where I do not speak the language and I think it is a little hard to get around. Instead of speaking English I go around speaking Spanish and I really do not mean too! I think it is really funny when I speak Spanish and the people here respond in Portugese - it makes for an interesting conversation!!! So anyways- the town I am in is so so so pretty. There are mountains that surround the town with beautiful churches nestled in every nook and cranny you can see. It is night now and the town is lit beautifully- you can see the houses far away in the mountain with the moon shining brightly overhead. I do not feel like I am in South America- instead I feel like I am somewhere in Austria in the mountains. The air is chilly because we are in winter down here. This is the first time that I have spent winter in July- it is definately interesting. The shops that line the streets here are lined with brightly colored scarves and gold rings with exiquisite gemstones. We are staying in a very clean and pretty posada called Posade America. The room is quiet and bare- but all that really matters is that it is clean.

This would be a romantic place to be if Josh did not have to go back to Belo Horizonte to get his battery páck. I have walked around alone and savored wonderful cappucino and a piece of cheesebread for dinner. If only I could speak Portuguese- I would have wonderful conversations with people on this trip of a lifetime that I am taking for 6 weeks. I have never had such a wonderful summer, in a beautiful country, in a lovely part of the world. If only everyone could have seen the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana. It is everything that one could imagine- that one could want. I am so excited to see what is next on this trip that I have 5 weeks left of.

First Rio and now Oro Preto!

We have been in Brazil for almost a week now! I think, I do not not even know what day it is when I am vacation! I have loved Brazil so far and anticipating seeing much more of it! It is so different from Ecuador, but I do miss Ecuadors prices. Brazil is a lot more expensive than I originally anticipated! I almost feel like it is the same price as the US......... It is just as nice as the US I think! Especially Rio, what a pretty city and very cosmopolitan as well. It was just as nice as NYC, but with beautiful beaches. The next city that we went to is more inland se llama Belo Horizonte, which was also very modern and pretty. Now we are in a colonial town in the mountains called Oro Preto and it looks amazing. I love Brazil, the people, and the food, but I cannot speak a bit of Portuguese. I will write more- stay tuned.
Chao for now!
